Metrocon 2014 - Private Shoots

Andy Does Cosplay & friends - Borderlands group shoot - MegaCon 2014
Are you a cosplayer? Will you be attending Metrocon 2014? Maybe we should work together!

It's finally time - Metrocon private shoot signups are now open! If you're interested in scheduling a session with me, you can find more info in this facebook event, and my shoot inquiry form for Metrocon 2014 is located on my website here.

Metrocon shoots will be offered at the special rate of $50, and will include up to an hour of photography, a digital download of 10 images sized for web use & print up to 8x12", and a print release! Shoots include 1-3 cosplayers, and additional cosplayers can be added for $15 per person, or $25 per 2 people. You will still have the option to purchase more of your images after the con, as well.

I will be requiring a signed contract & model release to hold a session time, and I'll also be asking for a 50% deposit via PayPal. The deposit becomes non-refundable 72 hours before the session time, except in the case of emergency.

Due to the overwhelming response I had during MegaCon this year, I will be offering a limited amount of sessions at this con, mostly so I can still enjoy the con a bit! I'd also like to be able to spend more time getting hallway shots!

I look forward to working with you!

"Night of Deviance" at MegaCon 2014

If you were at MegaCon this year, you may have noticed an increase in late-night activities during the con, which was sorely needed in years past. On Friday night, Cosplay Deviants threw a party at Backstage Nightclub, hosted by Chan Sterling, and it was a great way to spend a night after the first day of what became a pretty intense con (crowds on Saturday were out of control!).

The photos from the party are a little more risque than what I would normally post on facebook, so I'm sharing them here for my blog readers instead...enjoy! ;)

You can also see all of the photos over on my flickr in this set.  The next time you're at a convention where CosDev is hosting a party, you don't want to miss it!

Dapper Day Spring 2014 at Walt Disney World

Have you heard of Dapper Day? If you haven't, these photos might be a bit confusing, just as confusing as finding yourself surrounded by well dressed people from different eras at the Magic Kingdom would be.

Dapper Day is a twice yearly event at Walt Disney World (as well as Disneyland, where it was started), created to pay homage to the gorgeous concept art of the Disney parks and a bygone time when people dressed in their Sunday best to go to the theme parks. Participants are encouraged to dress their best, from any decade they'd like, and I'm always impressed at how stylish everyone manages to look. Though the event was started by fans and is no affiliated with the parks in any official capacity, it has gotten much larger over the past two years - Disneyland had over 10,000 participants at their most recent event! Here in Florida it's not quite as crazy, but I did notice a huge difference in the number of participants at this spring's event as compared to fall of 2012, the last Dapper Day I made it to.

See? So many people! And this was an impromptu group shot with just the folks who were nearby. If you squint, you can see me right in the middle. Photo thanks to Josh Wilson.
While many people dress to the nines - and look fabulous doing it, no matter the decade they represent - a new(ish) trend seems to be catching on with the Dapper crowd...Disneybounding! If you haven't heard of Disneybounding yet, it's generally a term used to mean dressing in an outfit inspired by a Disney character (basically closet cosplay). I'd say at least half of the Dapper Day participants at the most recent Florida event were Disneybounding, if not more. There was even an Avengers group (would that be Marvelbounding? Or still Disneybounding since Disney owns Marvel now?)!

Dapper Avengers! Loki, Thor,  The Hulk, Black Widow, Emma Frost, Cap, and Iron Man.
If you love Disney and getting dressed up & taking photos, Dapper Day is the perfect event for you. Definitely consider checking out the next WDW event on September 27th at Hollywood Studios. For now, enjoy some of my favorite shots from the spring event:

If you'd like to see more of my photos from this spring's event here at Walt Disney World, you can check out my facebook album for the full set. For more info about Dapper Day, including info about the next WDW event on September 27th at Hollywood Studios, check out Dapper Day's website.

MegaCon 2014 - Private Shoots - UPDATE!

Crissy as Morrigan Aensland {Darkstalkers}
Hey all! Just dropping in to make a quick update on my MegaCon shoots.

SATURDAY IS FULLY BOOKED. I do still have a few spots left on Friday & Sunday, but those are about to be full as well, so if you're interested in shooting with me during the convention, please contact me - filling out my shoot inquiry form for Mega is the best method of contact, or you can always email me.

I'm not going to lie...I'm seriously surprised by the response to doing these shoots! This is my first year doing private shoots at a con, and I'm equal parts nervous & excited. I'll be sending out final details to all of the participants soon, so if we've set something up, be on the look out!

As always, I'm also available for local cosplay shoots before & after the con - send me an email if you'll be in the greater Orlando area before or after the con and we can set something up. :)

In other blog news, I have a really fun shoot to share that I recently did with Miss Terri Guest, with makeup & hair by Teri Harrison - if you're a fan of classic horror movie monsters {with a twist!}, make sure to check back!

florida suicide girls disney day!

i was lucky enough to spend my day yesterday showing some of the mega babely florida suicide girls around walt disney world. thanks to a friend from work, i got in touch with sunshine suicide, aka sunnie, who is also one of the sg staff photographers & owner of powder puff pinups, and we set up a trip to magic kingdom & epcot with a group of florida sgs (and some friends, too) - annasthesia, lego, kush, lucysky, chrysis, and yesenia, plus miss terri guest (of course), and kush's friend sofilla (and we were joined later by my friend mikey, the one who introduced me to sunnie, and mah suicide, too).

not gonna lie - i was so excited but equally intimidated to not only meet one of the sg staff photographers (who i really look up to!) but also a bunch of the suicide girls. there really wasn't any reason to be intimidated, though. this was the nicest, funniest, most awesome group of girls i could have asked to spend a day with, and i'd love to hang out with them all again asap! i'm also looking forward to chatting with sunnie & the girls about some future plans photography-wise...let's just say that shooting for suicide girls has been a long-term goal of mine since before i can remember... ;)

if you want to see more of our adventures from yesterday, make sure to check out my instagram, and also the #SGDisney hashtag to see photos & videos that the girls took, too. <3

MegaCon 2014 - Private Shoots!

Kanimia Joan/Syber Digit as shot by Short Fuse Pinups
Are you a cosplayer? Will you be attending MegaCon 2014? Maybe we should work together!

Although I've been shooting cosplay at conventions for a few years now, I've never actually done any private shoots at a convention besides a few shots for friends. I've always felt creatively stifled by crowded con halls and less-than-flattering lighting, so I've decided that 2014 is the year to change that, so I'm offering private shoots at Mega this year!

MegaCon is the convention where I feel most comfortable, so it made a lot of sense to use it as a kind of trial run for private con shoots. I also won't be charging for the shoots at all (only if the cosplayers want a copy of all of their images in high-res).

I'm a little bit surprised by the number of cosplayers & groups I've already had sign up for spots, and I'm fairly excited to take a day trip over to the convention center soon to scope out good photo spots in & around the South Concourse, Mega's new home for 2014.

If you're interested in scheduling a session with me, you can find more info in this facebook event, and my shoot inquiry form for MegaCon 2014 is here on my website.

Beyond MegaCon shoots, the only other news to report is adding two new sites to my growing list of social media for Short Fuse - a brand new deviantART account, and a very lonely flickr account. I'm not sure how fully I'll be using either yet, but there seem to be some issues arising with facebook pages, and at least this way I'll be prepared with a few different options if need be. We'll see.

I think that's it for now. If you want to see photos from our most recent Chan Sterling Presents event, check out this album on facebook - our models for our post-apocalyptic Drink & Draw went all out!
