Dapper Day Spring 2014 at Walt Disney World

Have you heard of Dapper Day? If you haven't, these photos might be a bit confusing, just as confusing as finding yourself surrounded by well dressed people from different eras at the Magic Kingdom would be.

Dapper Day is a twice yearly event at Walt Disney World (as well as Disneyland, where it was started), created to pay homage to the gorgeous concept art of the Disney parks and a bygone time when people dressed in their Sunday best to go to the theme parks. Participants are encouraged to dress their best, from any decade they'd like, and I'm always impressed at how stylish everyone manages to look. Though the event was started by fans and is no affiliated with the parks in any official capacity, it has gotten much larger over the past two years - Disneyland had over 10,000 participants at their most recent event! Here in Florida it's not quite as crazy, but I did notice a huge difference in the number of participants at this spring's event as compared to fall of 2012, the last Dapper Day I made it to.

See? So many people! And this was an impromptu group shot with just the folks who were nearby. If you squint, you can see me right in the middle. Photo thanks to Josh Wilson.
While many people dress to the nines - and look fabulous doing it, no matter the decade they represent - a new(ish) trend seems to be catching on with the Dapper crowd...Disneybounding! If you haven't heard of Disneybounding yet, it's generally a term used to mean dressing in an outfit inspired by a Disney character (basically closet cosplay). I'd say at least half of the Dapper Day participants at the most recent Florida event were Disneybounding, if not more. There was even an Avengers group (would that be Marvelbounding? Or still Disneybounding since Disney owns Marvel now?)!

Dapper Avengers! Loki, Thor,  The Hulk, Black Widow, Emma Frost, Cap, and Iron Man.
If you love Disney and getting dressed up & taking photos, Dapper Day is the perfect event for you. Definitely consider checking out the next WDW event on September 27th at Hollywood Studios. For now, enjoy some of my favorite shots from the spring event:

MegaCon 2014 - Private Shoots - UPDATE!

Crissy as Morrigan Aensland {Darkstalkers}
Hey all! Just dropping in to make a quick update on my MegaCon shoots.

SATURDAY IS FULLY BOOKED. I do still have a few spots left on Friday & Sunday, but those are about to be full as well, so if you're interested in shooting with me during the convention, please contact me - filling out my shoot inquiry form for Mega is the best method of contact, or you can always email me.

I'm not going to lie...I'm seriously surprised by the response to doing these shoots! This is my first year doing private shoots at a con, and I'm equal parts nervous & excited. I'll be sending out final details to all of the participants soon, so if we've set something up, be on the look out!

As always, I'm also available for local cosplay shoots before & after the con - send me an email if you'll be in the greater Orlando area before or after the con and we can set something up. :)

In other blog news, I have a really fun shoot to share that I recently did with Miss Terri Guest, with makeup & hair by Teri Harrison - if you're a fan of classic horror movie monsters {with a twist!}, make sure to check back!
